Use PDF when the image is a document
JPG is ideal for photos, but PDF is usually easier to submit when the image is a receipt, ID, worksheet, signed form, or scanned page.
Convert JPG to PDF when a portal asks for a document instead of separate image files, or when you need one stable file for email or printing.
Before you upload the PDF
Open the PDF and check rotation, page size, margins, and whether small text remains readable. A photo that looks fine in the gallery can become harder to read once packaged into a document.
Keep the original JPG until the upload form, email recipient, or school portal accepts the PDF.
When to choose PNG to PDF instead
Use PNG to PDF for screenshots, graphics, or images with sharp text. Use JPG to PDF for photos and camera scans where broad compatibility and smaller file size matter more.
